## Scotland pilots live BSL video interpreting in community pharmacies

Tech. After a 21 September letter from Scotland's chief pharmaceutical officer, community pharmacies will trial Contact Scotland BSL video remote interpreting from 5 October. Free QR-code access lets Deaf BSL users reach a registered interpreter in-store.

## UKZN graduate builds real-time SASL-to-speech translator

Tech. Computer engineering graduate Akhil Hansrajh built a camera-based system that turns South African Sign Language into spoken English for banks and municipal offices. SASL is South Africa's 12th official language; ASL-trained tools misfire on local signs.
